Huh?

Let me get this straight, no pun intended, a prominent Republican politician lies about having sex an affair with someone who is underage. The media coverage would be wall to wall scandal reporting, noting over and over and over again the political affiliation of the perp. See Mark Foley and Larry Craig, count how many times the party is listed. Take note of the Oregonian’s blurb on their website, nary a mention of which party he belongs to. Why is it not mentioned? No media bias here, move along, nothing to see. ITS FOR THE CHILDREN!

I totally agree, Darby, that this is imbalanced reporting (to say the least). But when the Mark Foleys and Larry Craigs go around condemning exactly what they hate about themselves and then are caught with their pants down, the media likes to over-mention their political affiliations. Fair? No way. Hilarious? Definitely. If these conservative jackasses would just shut up about their high morals it wouldn’t be such a big deal when they’re found in compromising positions.

That being said, I’m really disappointed in Sam Adams. I wished I was a Portland resident a few months ago so I could vote for the guy because I’ve always admired him (and you know I love my gays). Now? I’m just glad it doesn’t matter what I think.

My main point is the unbalanced coverage and it’s consequences for the whole of the country. If all your news comes from the MSM be it the newspapers, CNN, NBC, CBS etc, the public gets the short shrift because all they get is one side of the equation. Not everybody seeks out different opinions on the news of the day b/c they have more immediate pressing matters such as their families and jobs. So all they hear is how bad the conservatives are and they are going to pollute the water, take away your pensions and send your children to fight in Iraq even though none of that is true. If you tell the lie enough it becomes the truth and the MSM is the arbiter of the information that most people use to make this differentiation. My main problem is the MSM cast themselves as “objective” which is far from the truth, they are agenda driven and I would be happy if they just admitted this up front as opposed to going about their coverage cloaked in this “objective” persona. We do agree in the main point that you bring it up by stating “If these conservative jackasses would just shut up about their high morals it wouldn’t be such a big deal when they’re found in compromising positions.” To me this is hypocrisy, just as libs go about telling us plebes how to live our lives but exempt themselves from following the rules they pass. Cut greenhouse emissions, but we’ll fly private planes belching CO2 and have ginormous houses that use more energy than we use in 10 years etc. I’m personally sick and tired of it regardless of the political party.

Yes, the hypocrisy is insane. Darby, you and me gotta run for co-president. We’ll be the “Cut the Bullshit” party. Politicians will hate us but everyone else will think we’re awesome. Deal?
    :)

Deal, we just need to find out who will bankroll us, but isn’t that the problem?
